WORD FOR THE DAY [WORD4DAY]
▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄
The WORD FOR THE DAY program will select a random word from the file
unusual.lst. To run it, type: WORD4DAY
Note that the file unusual.lst *must* be in the current working directory,
unless the APPEND command in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file points to the directory it
is in.
If you wish the WORD4DAY program to give you a "word for the day" auto-
matically each time the computer boots (is turned on), do the following.
Place the word4day.exe file in a directory pointed to by the PATH command in
the AUTOEXEC.BAT file. Add an APPEND command to the AUTOEXEC.BAT file
pointing to the directory the unusual.lst file resides in. Finally add the
command: WORD4DAY at the end of the AUTOEXEC.BAT file. [These directions are
for experienced DOS users. See your DOS manual for more detailed
explanations of what PATH, APPEND, and AUTOEXEC.BAT are about.]
If you learn a new word each day (using WORD4DAY), then in only 15 years or
so you will have painlessly learned most of the "difficult" words in the
OSPD3 (tm) and be well on your way to becoming a Scrabble (tm) master.
If you absolutely insist, you can use WORD4DAY with any other ASCII file
formatted as one word per line, carriage return terminated. Just rename the
file to UNUSUAL.LST and follow the installation procedures above.
